Epson SureColor P5000 Designer Edition Specifications
The Epson SureColor P5000 Designer Edition is a high-quality printer designed explicitly with graphics and print professionals in mind. This model offers excellent color delivery, which is critical for this type of application, and does this through its advanced UltraChrome HDX 10-color pigment ink system. The inclusion of violet ink extends the color range, which will be valuable for projects requiring an abundance of shades. The print quality is excellent, with all lines and shades sharp and vibrant. Any fine art or commercial-quality prints will be more than satisfied with the quality of color reproduction seen with the Designer Edition.
Moreover, manual refill of matte and photo black inks is never a concern with automatic switching between the two. Spare ink is also not a concern since it minimizes the waste that manual changing would generate. The LCD panel also makes viewing and controlling the printer status very intuitive. All media up to 1.5mm is handled.
However, it is not the speediest printer, but the trade-off between quality and time is good, considering how detailed and accurate the prints are. New printers run about $2,000 now, with a complete color set priced at around $1,000, but a variety of packages and offers are also available. As such, the overall price tag and expenses may be high, although on-site repairs should always be welcome on such expensive equipment. Nevertheless, the positives – quality print and hassle-free operation – potential savings due to the print head design will be less likely to dry out and give up will be particularly attractive for print shops and designers who use the SureColor P5000 for regular high-end prints that depend on the added ability to handle color work accurately.
